Between October and March, the sun in Canada is too low for our skin to make much vitamin D. That is why Health Canada suggests many adults consider a supplement in winter.
Most adults do well with 400 to 1000 IU a day. Some people need more, but do not take high doses without speaking to a pharmacist or doctor first.
Both work. Drops are easy for children and anyone who dislikes swallowing tablets.
